It’s as Simple as ABG
Welcome to DAY FIVE of our five-part reading plan to help you discover ancient habits for modern living that will transform your life.
We are on the final day of our reading plan and we are focusing on the greatest habit of all. Always be gracious.
Psalm 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
Ephesians 5:1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Take a moment and consider your last five days, I would guess that even during this time someone has treated you badly. It could be that driver who pulled out in front of you when you had the right of way. It could have been the person in the queue at the train stop who pushed by you to get a seat. It could have even been someone close to you who said some hurtful words that ought not to be said.
How would you respond in these situations? Would you react in anger? Would you let others control your response or would you take control of your emotions?
By reacting and overreacting we can cause ourselves lots of unnecessary stress and pain that could be avoided. How you may ask? By always being gracious and imitating God, we can truly save ourselves some stress and pain.
We all love the fact, that God is gracious towards us and that He does not treat us as our sins deserve. We are also asked to live as imitators of God, this includes how we treat others who do not treat us well. To always be gracious is not an easy habit to form but it is possible and will change you from the inside out.
As you come to the end of the reading plan the biggest gap that we need to cross is from knowing to doing. When you develop the ancient habits and apply them to everyday life.
So here is what you can do, each day choose one of the ABG habits to add into your life and watch the transformation take place. The key to keeping habits is to ‘rinse and repeat.
So are you ready to Always Be,
It truly is as simple as ABG.
God, help me to develop these ancient habits found in Your word to bring true transformation.
